May 2023 Calendar
Desktop Calendar for May 2023
Last month I showed you one of my photographs from Picacho Peak, when my family joined me on an outting, to see the wild flowers. This month I am excited to share a different flower from that same trip. This photograph is of a white tackstem, which is part of the sunflower family, and is native to the southwest and northern Mexico areas. White tackstem isn’t a very large plant they typically grow between 2 to 11 inches. Next year I want to grow some of these in my own garden! I hear that they are great in rock gardens and xeriscapes, and best of all they are a great food source for bees and other pollinators!

April 2023 Calendar
Desktop Calendar for April 2023
Over springbreak we had a quick get away down to see the wildflowers at Picacho Peak and let me tell you, they are a beautiful sight to see! The blooms typically begin in late February or early March, depending on the rain that we have been getting, and can last through April. Arizona has been getting a lot of rain this year and so the wild flowers were blooming like crazy! Some of the most common wildflowers at Picacho Peak include lupine, brittlebush, California poppies, and even red ocotillo blooms. The wildflowers provide a colorful contrast to the green and brown hues of the desert landscape.
This month you get to bring a little bit of Arizona spring time into your room! Enjoy the lupines and California poppies!

March 2023 Calendar
Desktop Calendar for March 2023
There is a park that I like to go running at after I drop off my kids at school. Late last summer/fall, after all of the wonderful monsoons we had, these exquisite flowers started to pop up. I didn’t recognize them by name and so I did a bit of googling and found out that they were Arizona poppies. Arizona poppies are not actually a poppy plant at all and are thought to be called that because of how they resemble the California poppy. Nonetheless, I love the discovery of different flowers and bright and cheerful they are. May this Arizona poppy brighten your screen throughout March on our journey toward spring!

February 2023 Calendar
Desktop Calendar for February 2023
Happy February! This month’s calendar features a photograph of an alsike clover flower. As I sit and look at an image for a long period of time I start to have memories of things that this image brings back up for me. I found that this image takes me back to childhood when you would race your friends in rolling down the hills covered in clover. It also reminds me of watching the sunset from a blanket while you are on a picnic. I can almost hear the birds singing a sweet tune. This is just one of the things that I love about photography, it can take you to many different moments. Is it just me or can you almost remember those exact moments as well when you look at this image?

This year I focused on the series Pointed Elegance for the desktop calendar to share with you every month and with January not super far away I am thinking ahead to what series I should share next. Will it be one of the series that I have already created, and continue to work on, or will it be a whole new series? Wellllll, currently my plan is to create an example of a couple of my ideas and I hope to get feed back from you guys! Maybe take a little poll and you can vote for which is your favorite! Keep an eye out for that!

November 2022 Calendar
Desktop Calendar for November 2022
I have found on the days that I am completely overwhelmed that getting myself out of the house and into nature can change everything. This last week I took a trip to the Botanical Garden, here in Phoenix, and was amazed at how many of the cacti were in bloom in October! You know the saying, April showers bring May flowers, and in Arizona, the same can be said during the monsoon season, monsoon showers bring cactus flowers. Monsoon season is typically from June thru September when we have many rain storms. October was a surprise this year filled with rain and that brought on a whole new batch of flowers blooming from many cacti! I have enjoyed the extra rain and especially love the unexpected cacti blooms!

September 2022 Calendar
September’s desktop calendar
The month of fall is officially here! We have had our summer fun, now as we get back fully into a routine, we say goodbye to the carefree days of summer. The next thing you know everything will be pumpkin flavored and pumpkin decor.
Around here, I just want to keep your computer desktop beautiful for you each and every month! This month we have a beautiful gymnocalycium cactus flower. This cactus has never bloomed for me before and recently I walked through the door and there was this flower that was about to bloom! I was so excited and ran back into the house yelling for everyone to come and see.
I hope that this little bloom will light up your day, just like it did mine when I first saw it!

August desktop calendar
"Breathe the sweetness that hovers in August."
―Denise Levertov
The prickly pear cactus and its blooms have shown up here a couple of times and I have to tell you that I am just awestruck that each one of these different prickly pear cacti can have a different flower. Some have yellow flowers, others have yellow with a red center and another type of prickly pear can have just red flowers. Nature is AMAZING! This image was photographed this spring at the Botanical Garden here in Phoenix. At that time there were blooms everywhere and the desert was bursting with transformation. So, today I present to you Fire Ducky.
As always, I hope that this cactus bloom will bring a smile to your face and brighten every day!
